Comfortable Stay in NatureWith Activities
Rajaji National Park, situated in Uttarakhand, spans across the districts of Pauri Garhwal, Dehradun, and Saharanpur. Covering an expanse of 820.42 square kilometers, it was established in 1983 through the amalgamation of three wildlife sanctuaries: Rajaji, Motichur, and Chilla. In 2015, an additional 255.63 square kilometers adjoining the national park were incorporated into Rajaji National Park as a buffer zone, forming the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. With a total area of 1075 square kilometers, this declaration was made under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Chilla Rajaji National Park holds immense conservation value as it marks the north-westernmost limit of distribution for endangered species such as the Tiger, Asian Elephant, Great Pied Hornbill, and King Cobra. The tiger reserve plays a crucial role as the respiratory system for three cities - Haridwar, Dehradun, and Rishikesh, providing a continuous influx of fresh, clean air. Named after the renowned freedom fighter C. Rajagopalachari, also known as Mootharignar Rajaji, the park holds historical significance. Rajaji National Park lies between Haridwar and Rishikesh, with Haridwar hosting the primary safari zones. Rajaji and Motichur were adjacent sanctuaries, separated from Chilla Sanctuary in the southeast by the Ganges and the Chilla River. Following Jim Corbett National Park, Rajaji became Uttarakhand's second Tiger Reserve. The landscape of Rajaji Tiger Reserve encompasses Sal forests, Terai grasslands, riverine habitats, and ravines. Identified as the Indus Ganges Monsoon Forest type, the park's forests range from deciduous to semi-evergreen, including Terai and mixed broad-leaf grasslands
